Who would you bring your LT4s to, to get ported?

Im thinking about going with a good set of ported LT4's for my stroker build up. Who would you have port your LT4's? After dealing with GTP Im a little leary who I will take my heads to....anyone with any success with a certain head porter?

With a good set of LT4's I dont think ~290 cfm would be an extremely unreasonable number to look for....

I am getting right at 400RWHP out of a STOCK short block through a A4 and a 12 bolt with my heads. I bolted on 50RWHP....

I can only think of a few people you can get great stuff out of

Well I am going to give my vote to Total Engine Airflow. They did a superb job on my heads. Very Professional, Excellent Customer Service, Great Prices, and Plenty of Experience. Give them a call.

I had them in mind. Do you have any flow numbers or dyno/track times? Also how much did they cost to your door?

Thanks

http://www.lt1dave.com That is dave smiths addy. He is getting awesome numbers (peak and mid lift), but is more of a local guy than what is phil. Prices cant be beaten though.

I had them CNC the heads, valve job(which is required after the CNC)mill the heads, stayed with stock valves, they installed new springs for my cam and set them up, flow bench and sent them back to me for less than 950bucks. I don't have the flow numbers handy. I have had the car on the 1/8th mile once since I got it back together. I ran a 7.9 at 89 which given the weight of my car should be around 360 to 370rwhp. That is on stock computer tune. I am scheduled for a dyno tune in two weeks.

Man go with TEA...i've got stage two from them and they are pretty good. i love the heads and intake...they also ported the intake too. I went with stock valves also. flow peak numbers were 270/243. The exh. is a little high prolly about 20 less than that but still great for the price. no dyno numbers or times yet though hopefully soon.

I would say they prolly are for a full port job plus upping the valves sizes....you up my valves and my numbers go up. you have to look at what stage i've got plus the valves then compare.

Lloyd Elliott, aka Nightrain66. i've never personally had him do any work, but i've seen firsthand some of his work and i can say they look mighty nice and make the power to back it up. just another option.

Phil, without a question. And not to quote Phil, but peak numbers are not the only thing to think about.

When it comes to heads, IMO, there is a lot more than just being happy that the car runs faster. Heads being reliable, car having a good powerband (of course, many other factors involved), peak power being made, AND cost.

Personally, I can't see how anyone can be overly happy with a set of heads without any track/dyno numbers to prove it to themselves (unless there is a noticable difference between just swapping out one set of heads for another set, with no other major changes).

Also, think about this: Let's say someone makes 390RWHP on their $1500 set of heads. Next person has identical setup, but with different heads they paid $2500 for, but makes 400RWHP. You know who go the better deal (though sadly, it seems the $2500 ported stock heads are making less power than $1500 dollar ones ).

Also, unless you already have the LT4 heads, I'm having troubles understanding why you would want those. If it was MY money, I'd get a set of AFR 195's (or, since you already have the LT1 intake, 190's), and have those worked over. When all is said and done, your overall cost will be similar.
