Who wants to help me with my smoking problem?

My engine smoking problem that is. My 383 has about 5000 miles on it and its done this since it was first built. After I beat on the car awhile ( a lot of high rpm driving), it starts smoking pretty bad out of the exhaust at idle. It also smokes during WOT. I have some oil in my fresh air line and when i take my pcv hose off of the intake (the port that leads to the valley) it emits some smoke from there while idling. I'm thinking my rings never seated properly (moly rings on srp forged pistons), but i broke them in like i was supposed to so i am not sure.

Well, if the smoke is blue, it means that you are getting oil into the cylinders. If it smokes during idle and DEcelleration, it could be the valve seals, however if it also smokes at WOT you might have ring seating problems, either the compression rings or the oil rings. If the the engine ever overheated and caused the cyl walls to glaze, that could be th reason the righs didn't seat properly or maybe they were installed ihncorrectly, or something to that effect.

If you had the engine work done outside, they should have to take care of it. If it is the rings, you might be better off with a short block than to go back into the engine. Sorry. Good luck. JMHO
