4.10 gears makes mechanical advantage, making the tires easier to turn.
The only disadvantage is that you run out of RPM at a lower speed in each gear.

pasky lets see a clip of that black beuty!! i wanna hear it...i bet you couldnt believe the difference. hows the performance with those 1 5/8ths ?What tune did you use? mine runs a little choppy but thats becasue of my stock tune that i ran out of cash to have retuned.lol. all my freinds with the 306 and a tune are perfect for the street with just enough lope to let it be known theres a cam inside. as far as gears i run a 373 that seems to be ok but im waiting till the t5 grenades itself to get a t56 and 410s. good to hear all went well.

I'd love to make a clip, only clip you'll really see is when me and my buddy raced. He hasn't gotten it posted yet but he will soon. I got a madz28 tune and I flash the bin myself. He had the idle set at 900 so I dropped it down to 800 because it sounds much better
.
My buddy's version of the story:

He should have the video up of that soon.

From what I've seen most of the time you hear about the 306 being "unstreetable" or excessively rough etc. it's comming from someone who has heard that from someone who has heard that from somebody who read it somewhere...
I don't recall ever hearing complaints like that from those that actually have one or at least have been i a car with one ..... I suppose that can be said about lots of things though
just like a HOT cam will kill all your low end...

Re: Who said the CC306 isn't streetable?
hmm, i get confused on that
i thought you gained time because your wheels turn more revolutions for each time the driveshaft turns. but i think your right i'm backwards, because the steeper gear you go you lose top end, which would mean that the wheels are turning less revolutions...
bah, screw it, go with a 2:73 gear and a D-1 blower, forged internals and a custom cam....talk about a fun street car.

Re: Who said the CC306 isn't streetable?
For the most part people dont know what they are talking about, its clear to see when I read the boards. When I got my Vigi 3200 a lot of people told me it wouldnt be streetable. Far as a CC306 being unstreetable, their like 8 years to late for this debate. Its a proven cam.
Re: Who said the CC306 isn't streetable?
I love my CC306. My motor has been finished since the end of October. I only got about a month and a half to drive it, but I have had ZERO problems with driveability. I have no surge and the idle is set at 800 RPM. I love it.
I'm still running on stock injectors and stock 10 bolt with the 3:42's. As soon as I get my clutch put in, we will see what it will do.
I'm still anxious to see what numbers it will put down. My target RWHP was 375-390. I don't think I will hit the 390 but we'll see I guess. The mods are in the sig. My heads are fully ported with 2.00/1.56 valves.
You have one more vote for the CC306 being streetable.

Re: Who said the CC306 isn't streetable?
Just another happy cc306 customer wanting to voice himself. I have a cc306 & 1.6:1 roller rockers (new springs of course) on an otherwise stock motor. My car is also and auto w/ stock converter. Car runs strong & FAST with no tune / very little tuning done by me. Even with the stock tune it ran fine. It could use a little more tuning to run just right but definatly still very drivable... There's a TON of hype out there but to be honest this cam works well.
