I milled my Trickflow heads down to around stock chamber volume. If you decide to go that route, just tell whoever is porting your hgeads to mill them. You may have to mill your intake to fix the difference though.

BTW how good are the Edelbrock heads? I have been hearing horrible stories about how they just perform a little bit better then our stock heads.

well i was doing a lil home work trying to see which way to go ...it looks like my best bet for the 1200.00 i have to spend is to use my stock heads and have them ported and new rr and springs and such done to it.....

That's what I would do. The stock casting is pretty good all by itself (for a production head). It's not really rocket science on these heads. The porting areas are pretty obvious for both heads alum and iron. The aluminum head needs quite a bit taken out just past the intake opening on the roof, and in the chamber, the exhaust valve can be unshrouded a whole bunch. Getting each port to flow the same is the trick. Don't go crazy on valve sizes either. I would go with 2.00/1.56 and keep the factory seats.
