who has a low cost rebuild kit?

I called autozone and they told me $600, is there an online company that has them for less? They also told me $200 for a topend gasket kit.

Summit has speed pro LT-1 rebuild kits for pretty cheap. Forged kit is something like $540. That includes all the gaskets, pistons, rings, bearings, freeze plugs.

Summit's kit is a pretty good kit too, I've seen it in person...comes with Speed Pro Forged Pistons, and Coated Skirts...only thing is make sure you order a better Intermediate shaft for the High Volume Oil Pump it comes with the stock retaining sleeve is plastic, for an extra $8.95 you'll have a NICE solid BILLET I believe with a metal sleeve connected and held on by a pin. Also on your oil pickup get a pickup retainer to keep it from coming loose in your oil pan...$20 worth of "ADVIL" for a possible headache preventer down the road...Just thought I'd give ya a lil .02

Re: who has a low cost rebuild kit?

My machinist got me the speed pro kit for the same price as summit sells it for, which worked out good for me since if something was wrong i didn't pay for it in the first place and it would be his responsibility to send it back and get his money back. You might ask your machinist, lots of them have hook ups too. And yes the kit is really good for the price.

If you're worried about the oil pump sleeve just get the kit then go down to an auto parts store and spend $12 on a new drive that comes with a metal sleeve like i did and cut the plastic one from the stock pump off.

Re: who has a low cost rebuild kit?

so whats a ball park figure for labour to install the rebuild kit assuming:

1) you remove the motor yourself
2) you let your mechanic remove the motor???
