I know how it's suppose to go in, but i'm talking aobut when it goes. Do you have to remove everything again to change a electric wp that goes bad?

No, you can just undo the bolts on the electric part itself. Pull it out and put the new one in. Recconect wires, add coolant and your done.

I'm on about 10K miles on my CSI and stroker. No problems yet, but I probably just jinxed myself by posting this damn message... BUT, thats why I have a spare and a wrench in the glove box. Gotta take advantage of having the ability to change the thing out on teh side of the road. I look at it the same as a spare tire. I Don't leave home without it cause walking sux..

I had a Meziere HD for 2 years and never had a problem. Left it on the car when I sold it, so as far as I know, it's still on there. If it did go, the people would have no clue when they bought a stock replacement. My buddy has had the CSI on his for about 2 years now and he has never had a problem either. For a little over $100, they look like the way to go.

I haven't looked into this mod. It's one of those things I plan to do down the road. (not one of my first mod choices) I know it doesn't add horsepower it rather "free's some up". I am just wondering if you guys that did this mod really noticed a difference, would you do it again etc.?

Sort of like turning the AC off and you feel a little boost? (I don't really notice that with this particular v8 though)

i picked up about 1-1.5 mph in the quarter with the csi. that was back to back weekends at the track and the runs with the csi were in worse air than the previous weekend.

another plus is you dont have to have the car running to bleed the system

I like my CSI a lot, but it hasn't been used all that much.

Re: Who has had an electric waterpump fail?

I had my CSI for about 3 years before it toasted. Not the pumps fault. It got so cold the antifreeze and water mix froze, locking up the pump and when I started, burnt it up

CSI did replace it for me for $55 shipped to my door without a receipt, I just shipped my old one back to them.

Forget ebay also unless they can give you a genuine receipt in case you do need it. The price difference is nothing if any at all from there.

You do know when you take it off on the side of the road, your gonna leak coolant all over the place, right?

I just got the CVR LT1 water pump for $114 on jegs.com. It came with a freeze plug which I think the others dont come with. Anyways, I am finishing it tommorow, and I hope it lasts a long time.

Re: Who has had an electric waterpump fail?

Now why in the world would a 5 inch hole in the front of the water pump leak?

Of course it would leak out coolant. But it's a LOT easier to refill the fluids than find a CSI replacement pump out in the middle of BFE.

Re: Who has had an electric waterpump fail?

Do you have to make the little drill holes for the CSI wp to fit into the housing?

Re: Who has had an electric waterpump fail?

Yes, you need to grind 4 spots into the housing for it to fit. It's not hard though, and affects the usability 0%

Ok, you go ahead and change your water pump in the middle of BFE. I hope you have a plan when you have 2nd degree burns all over your face and hands.
