Question White Smoke From Oil Filler Neck?

Just finished the Optispark, Plugs, Wires, Waterpump dealy. The car started up fine, ran it till the thermostat opened. Then I notice that I have a little bit of white smoke coming from the oil filler neck. Does this mean bad pcv valve? My father thinks that because we were jacking it up so many different ways that it possibly got oil somewhere it shouldnt have. Im not sure, I was wondering if this is normal and will go away or is something wrong?

I had a problem somewhat like this, I put too much oil in my engine and everyime I would go to WOT smoke would pour out of my oil breather for a good 5 seconds.

Might check that

i had/have that same problem. When the person that changed my head gaskets got done and i said something to him about it he said it was from warn pistons rings. and that it was getting oil up there and burning it, the smoke would fall back down into the pan and then back out the filler neck.

Put your hand over it and see if you can fill it puffing with the car on.

That sounds better.

Re: White Smoke From Oil Filler Neck?

Im not 100% percent sure that it is coming from the oil filler neck. It is most definetley around there. I will try capping it off and seeing it is indeed out of the filler neck. Could this be a spark plug wire burning? Or maybe I got a little bit off antisieze on the exhaust manifolds?

Logically you think that this would be proportional to rpm if it is worn piston rings right? So if I rev the motor more should come out?

If its coming from the filler, thats not good news. Its a good sign of a rebuild is needed, or at leaste a fresher uper. Its blow by on the piston ring(s)

Re: White Smoke From Oil Filler Neck?

GOOD NEWS!!! There is no more white smoke from the engine! After a new optispark my low rpm stumbling is gone. Overall the car runs much smoother. God it feels good to be driving my Z, its been close to 3 weeks of sitting.
