Where is the relay switch on a Meizer Water Pump?
Where is the relay switch on a Meizer Water Pump?
I have a Meizer Electric Water Pump in my 94Z. Last year it started to over heat and the car began spewing anti-freeze because according to the dealership, the relay switch on the water pump burnt out. Now the same thing is happening, I checked hoses and everything. the anti-freeze is coming out the top of the resevior cap. They charged me $80, I know I can probably do this myself.
I just need to know what it looks like and where this relay may be located? Or else I am going to have to take it back.
Thanks for the help

Re: Where is the relay switch on a Meizer Water Pump?
You car never came with an electric water pump, therefore GM did not install the wires and relay.
In short...whoever installed the pump put relay where he wanted to. I would follow the wires leading from the pump and see where they go. Also check the engine compartment for a relay that looks added on. It most likely won't have the weather sealed connectors that GM uses.
Have you checked to see if your pump is getting power yet?

Yea its usually a square looking piece about 2 in. x 1in or so.. 4 wires that are most likely using those crimp spade connector's..

Just trace the wires coming from the pump, you'll find it. BTW, shortly after getting my Meziere I started having overheating problems (pump not running, blown fuses). It was all due to loose input wire connections inside the pump. They just used slip fit type connectors and they were loose causing all kinds of arcing and high current load witch was blowing fuses. I talked to a guy at Meziere and he walked me through how to take it apart and put it back together. Once I had it apart I cleaned up the terminals and soldered the wires back in place. Its been running fine ever since (~3yrs).
