Where to install a Trans Temp Gauge
Is the 1/8 npt access port on the drivers side have ATF flowing over it? It looks like a good place to put the sender if AFT would flow over it.

this came up before I believe. You are correct in where you're wanting to put it, if memory serves. I think you just need an adapter to get it to fit in that small hole.
