Where to get replacement bulbs for AutoMeter Gauges??

Anybody know where to get them. I need one for a 2 5/8" gauge. It seems you cant just buy a bulb...but have to replace the whole bulb housing(black thing)and 12v/ground wires to it. I emailed autometer but no response as of 2 days ago...WTF!

Also, while on the subject. Does anybody have any ideas for removing the face of the AutoMeter 2 5/8" Tach and making its light "red" instead of the normal color it is? You cant use condoms on the 2 5/8"autometer tach. It just has a teenytiny little bulb that is at the top of the gauge. Doesnt even seem to be a way to get to it. Later

According to the AutoMeter site, the 2-5/8" gauges require a #2359 bulb/socket/wire. But they also list a replacement bulb for that unit. Part # 2389.

AutoMeter catalog - bulbs

The bulb looks like a common type you could buy in any auto parts store. Just need to make sure it is 2 watts.

If you want to change a color of the Autometer light bulbs but dont want to buy the color coated condoms for the bulbs, you can paint the bulbs with Testors Model Paint. Autometer told me that the Testor Model paint is what they recommend because they have used it and it does not fade out like the color coated condoms do. I have painted my bulbs red with the red Testor Model paint, guages and so far they still look good (after about 7 months). The color coated red condom that I had on my fuel pressure gauge faded real bad after a year of use, it looked almost orange/white-ish, since I have painted the bulbs, there has been zero fading.

Hope that helps somewhat,
Claude
