They go in the grooves on the part of the opti drive that fits inside the hole in the front of the cam.

Are your old ones there? I was surprised when I took my 97 apart and there were no O-rings there.

I think the original pieces aren't even rubber, i remember there being some really brittle pieces of some type of metal. I barely touched it and it broke in half so I used the rubber ones.
