Where did all my torque go?????

I think this may very well be a computer related problem, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

About two months ago I installed hooker shorty headers, y-pipe and gutted my cat converter. I also purchased an LT4 knock Module and installed that in the computer.

1st. I do not drive my car very much but I am now having some horrible drivability problems. First and for most the car is runnning extremely rich! I know the cat it gutted, but I can smell excessive amounts of fuel from the tail pipes.

2nd - The car has no torque what so ever down low! I absolutly mean this too. I stomped on the gas today and I got absolutly no tire sping what so ever and it basically just bogged down.

3rd. Extremely rough idle. Almost sounds like it has a drag cam in the car. But it dosent. Car just wont idle correctly.

4rd. While driving there is a funny miss that occurs. It is almost as though it does a small back fire because I can hear my Borla's pop.

I have talked personally on the phone with PCMforless and they agree that the computer probably dosen't know what is going on (My computer is still completely factor) and that by advancing the spark down low and tunning the computer the drivability issues can be solved...

What does everyone else thing? To be honest I am a little depressed because I did so much work to the car and it just isn't any fun to drive.

FYI: I did not change the 02 sensors and they are completely original. While doing the header install I changed the plugs and wires with all OEM Components. I do not have any exhaust leaks.

Thank you all for your help. I greatly appreciate any responses.

Dustin

sounds like an ignition issue to me-
maybe even injectors or a pressure reg?

That is a possibility. But the car was running perfectly before I installed and gutted the cat. I have never had any problems what so ever with the ignition system or the fuel system.

The car was very strong before the installations, but it now feels like a light switch was flipped off.

PCMs very rarely just "go bad"
injectors dont either, but more frequently than pcms
optis go bad more than all of them
wires/plugs/coil etc..

i think your burning a wire on a header primary personally

I agree with the other guys, my car reacted the same way when I had a plug wire that was laying against the belt under the alternator. I didn't notice it at first because it was hard to see unless you were under the car. I seem to run ok, but it was a little ruff, especially under hard acceleration, and the power was just gone. Put on a new plug wire and it was a night/day difference.

I'm almost 100% positive that its exactly the plugs or wires, Reason being..

This just happened to me friday... My car would shake HARD when in idle or pressing on the gas... then when pressing on the gas my car bogged out.

So i take it to the shop, The guys at another shop put my wires on but had them laying against my pulleys, They melted right through, And also i had one Plugs Oil fouled. So i replaced it all and low and behold everything stopped.

Im replacing my Opti this weekend because that was a problem last summer so im not trying to go through the same crap.

But anyways good luck with your car and just have someone check out your wires and plugs thats how simple this problem can be.

I also gutted my cat back in 1994 on my 94 Z28. I had the exact same super rich, crappy running problem. Raw fuel would even dilute my oil fast. I put a new cat back on and problem went right away.

I have my plugs wrapped in Earls Fire Wrap and they are all away from hot parts and possible pullies.

I replaced the plugs and wires when doing the install. I will check again, but I am thinking the lack of Cat is causing a super rich condition. The order to PCMforless is going in today and I will see if that works. If I am still experiencing problems I will order a high flow cat and put it back on.

If the problem still exists I will know it is trully an electrical problem.

Thank you all for your suggestions

I would think a burnt wire too. I had the fortunate chance to run over an unproperly covered manhole and my collecter caught it and bent the flange on my headers where they meet the head. It thought i had ran into another car because it hit so hard. My car was running like crap. I thought it was just because of the exhaust leak which was causing it to run very rich(that was part of it) but when i hit that manhole, it must have pushed the wires that much closer and it burned one a little. It felt like a new car when i got it fixed.
