You have plenty of mods. Why not go electric CSI for $135.

will it work around the factory waterpump gear or do I have to take it off for this? I really don't want to go back into the motor to get this gear off.....It is a real pain in the AZZ! I would like something that I could put on that I don't have to take this gear off for now

You don't have to pull the timing cover off to install an electric water pump. The water pump driveshaft will stick out of the timing cover but it won't bother anything. You'll pull the coupling off and pull the "guts" out of the water pump, and install a freeze plug in the back side of the water pump housing.. It's really not a big deal.

I got a re-make from Autozone for around $55.00 or so. No problems yet either.

What brand pump do they use for that? If it's the Meizere (sp?) you'll still have to do clearancing with the fan shroud.

they give you the summit brand pump preinstalled into the stock housing and if you wanted they also do it for the meziere as well, I seen them both in the new issue of their catalog.

Based on reliablity reviews, I'd prefer a CSI. I wonder if they do it for that pump. Anyone know who is the supplier for the Summit-brand pumps?

Is an electric WP really worth the time and money? I mean what kind of gains if any are you going to expect? I just don't know about it just lasting about 2000 hours and then dieing on you...i know its a long time but i still am thinking of just going with a stocker.

The Summit water pumps are a pretty nice piece. I installed one a couple weeks ago on my Stepson's '94 Formula. It's manufactured by CVR for Summit. Although it has the Summit decal on it, CVR is machined into the front of the motor. It does not include a water pump housing...just a motor, wires, and the brass freezeplug for the back of your original water pump housing.

97Camaro,
If you're concerned about longevity of the electric pump, then it may not be right for you. They work great for the intended application, but who knows how well it'll work in another 5 yrs/50,000 miles? A couple of great benefits include not having to worry about the factory water pump starting to leak and taking out the Opti with it, and being able to convert to a conventional double roller SBC timing chain. I converted my Stepson's to the Comp Cams 2136.

i did a cs1 abotu 8 months ago. its great but looking back for a daily driver i would not have done it again. there is no need for it. if your going to do an electric you hafta bee the type of person who watches there gauges, if not a wire might come loose or the pump might crap out and you would be screwed. i had a problem with cheap relays crapign out and causing me to sit on the side of the road hardwireing the pump.
