when doing heads and cam....?

Does the block deck need to be surfaced before a new gasket is put on??

Is there anything people might not think of before doing heads and cam?

You might want to check for flatness / straightness other than that just make sure you have a good clean surface.

I'm also in the process of a head swap and was wondering how many times should I change the oil to clean out any debris that might have fallen into the lifter valley?
