Wheelspin

Hey CamaroZ28-

I have a 94Z28 M6 with a hotcam kit and 4.10 gears. I put down about 310 HP the rear wheels on a dynojet. I just installed a 52mm throttle body and the wheelspin on the car has gotten noticeably worse. I don't think it was just the tb, but I wanted to ask what I should do about it. I have 17x9 ss rims with 275 Comp TA tires. Should I go to a wider rim with more rubber, or just a better tire (like a drag radial)? I wanted to add heads and longtube headers soon, but I want to solve the wheelspin first as more power is just gonna make this worse.

any thoughts?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you have already but put some lower control arms on, I use the boxed BMRs, you can definitly notice a traction difference.

I have tried launching between 2500 and 4000 with pretty much the same results, wheelspin increasing the more rpm I give it.

Have you tried 'driving it out of the hole'? With a basically stock engine and 4.10s, ease it out about 1800-2000 with the clutch to keep the wheel spin down, then roll into the throttle as the tires will take it. Practice some starts. You should be able to find the sweet spot of rpm/throttle/clutch slip which gets you a 2.1 or so short time.

The 4.10s and 2500+ launch are really ovepowering your tires. If you had 3.23's you now have about 30% more torque at the rear wheels. IMO, a 4000 launch should completely cook the tires. Neat if you like smoke.

i agree, 2500 on street tires with 4.10 gear is too much RPM, like said befor, drive the car outta the hole and give it what it can handle and no more.. DR's would make a noticable differnce also
