Whats your most valuable tool for the LT1?

I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure a nice hand grenade will come in real handy one day. Just toss it in and close the hood and all my problems are done for.

As for the scanner you can get the cable from AKM electronics, he knows what you need, OBD1 w/ OBD2 style plug for use with a laptop. Datamaster is a really good scanner program and you get 20 free recordings before you have to buy it.

Well I have a scanmaster. Is that like the same thing, or will it be better for pinpointing problems(such as my running rich and excess smoke from exhaust)?

Homemade spark plug wrench, laptop with all my software, GM tech manuals. Jeee, i dunno what esle. Hell my impact wrench makes life pretty easy too. Lots of favorties.

I took a 24 inch long metal pipe that would slip comfortably over my Craftsmans 3/8 drive ratchet wrench, and put a nice 90 degree bend about 9 inches from the end of it so I can easily remove the bolts that hold the coolant cross-over tubes to the back of the heads.

a big bag of money. also AKM is routing you to another website for cables. you can get them made for 65 or parts for 45. much better than the 95 that AKM charges for the made cable.

I would have to say my GM manual and a scan tool, have used scanmaster multiple times and it saved me soooooo much guessing
