What's teflon got to do with it?
What's teflon got to do with it?
I had my throttle body removed and noticed it was sooty downstream of the blade. So I sprayed carb cleaner on it because that's what was handy. After a few minutes, the sooty grundge washed off, then a dark coating started to bubble up too. So now I have too remove the teflon coating all around. What was the Teflon for, and what are the consequences of removing it?

The throttle blades are coated to shed soot. Not sure if its "teflon". Generally, its a good idea to use "throttle body cleaner", and not "carb cleaner" because carb cleaner removes the coating.
