I suppose if I get a car to go that fast it probably won't have the stock computer in it anyways. I was just wondering if it was possible or not. I guess if I ever have that kind of money I'll try it out and let everyone know.

You'll note that the current U.S. record, on a public street, is an average of 207.78mph with a top speed of "only" 220mph. The highest ever recorded speed on a public street was on the German autobahn in I think 1937. It was some where around 230+mph, the driver died after being blown off the course.

1988 callaway sledgehammer corvette does did 254.76mph on an oval track. 4 turbos, cam, 1003HP. milder cam was put in to make the car streetable, that gave 898HP.
Bugatti veyron (model #???) does 250mph and its a street legal production car, W16 with ~1000HP. 0-186mph in 14seconds flat on pump gas and street tires.
