Depends what tires it came with... Z-rated has no limit (I think the default entry in the 8-bit PCM field is 255), non-Z rated tires were around 108-110mph.

There's a large thread on this if you do a search. But it depends on the package. There can be either/or an rpm limiter and/or a speed limiter. Generally there seems to be two speeds, one around 100mph and the other around 150mph +.

I think Madwolf had the last word in that thread:
I haven't read the whole post, but here's some info I gathered from experience.

93-95 cars with non z rated tires and an older PCM calibration were limited to 108 MPH and received a 110 speedo.

94 and 95 cars had a newer calibration from GM which raised the limit to 118 MPH.

93-95 Z-rated cars all had the speed limiter set to 255 MPH.

96-02 F cars with non z-rated tires all had 118 MPH speed limiters.

96-02 F cars with Z rated tires were all limited to 160 MPH.

Yes, it does cut fuel for that instant, both when it hits the rev limiter and/or the speed limiter.

This might be a rumor, but I heard that the 30th special edition didn't have a speed limiter. Can anyone back this up?

93-95 Z-rated cars all had the speed limiter set to 255 MPH - Is that the maximum speed that the computer can handle? - what is it, like 11111111 or something???

I was just wondering if you could go faster than that.

modded 95 lt1s have gone faster without encountering speed limiters, iwas just wondering if there really is a limiter at 255mph.

Well 255 is 16 squared minus one, so obviously it's the maximum number that the computer is capable of handling- so I guess there's a spot for one and there has to be a number in there.

As far as if you could remove the limiter completely with some vudu tuning, or just set the limiter at zero and see if the car moves, I dunno.

Well by the time you get an engine and car built that will go 255, the computer will be the last of your worries.
