whats a safe shifting point???
whats a safe shifting point???
ok i got a 95 m6. it's got 1.6 roller rocker, double valve springs, and hardend push rods. every thing else inside engine internaly is stock. i got all the bolt ons and free mods. when i have been going down to the track i have been shifting at 5800. how much higher can i go? also isn't there a point where your not making much hp after a certain rpm?
Of course there is a point that you aren't making more horsepower. If you haven't had the car on a dyno, then you have to use your butt-o-meter to tell you when the car stops pulling.
If you have stock heads and cam, I'm not sure why you'd want to rev it past 5800?
Since I'm feeling a little lazy this morning, where do "stock" LT1s make peak horsepower.
Someone got a dyno graph?

o went to the dyno last year. since then i have done alot more mods but looking at the graph it looks like. my peak horse was 291.1 at 5842 rpms and torque was 284.3 i let off aroung 5800 so i wasn't sure if it would of went any higher or not?
If it was still climbing at 5800 keep pulling it!
Try going up by 200rpm shift points at the track and see what happens to ET. If it keeps going down then keep revving it higher, I guess.
Or get it back on the dyno and see how high it pulls.
