What's involved in replacing the seal on the oil cooler?

Any one got picture or instructions on how to remove the stock oil cooler? Also, whats the part # for the seal? I think I have a small leak from the cooler.

I just removed mine from a high mileage engine... Found a lot particals in the cooler which impeded the flow and decreased the oil pressure. Oil pressure is much better now and it seems like the pressure reacts better to engine rpm changes.

Just figured I'd mention it as a possible option for you.

To remove, after removing the oil filter, you will be able to unscrew the shaft that the oil filter screwed onto. I think the socket size is 1 1/8" (dont' quote me on that).

Also unscrew the tab holding the two coolant pipes to the oil pan at the front of the engine.

The seal to the engine looks very similar to the seal on an oil filter but not sure if it's the same size.

Where are all the particles trapped? Between the oil cooler & block? Also, when I remove the cooler will any coolant leak out?

No coolant will leak out if you remove the cooler as long as you don't remove the two coolant lines attached to it.

The debris I found was actually in the upper inlet of the cooler, (between the cooler and the block, and were all found in the coolant heat exchanger fins...

I'll send you a pic to better illustrate..

if you're interested in fully removing the cooler, do a search for "oil cooler" and you should find alot of info.
