Re: What's the HOTTEST your LT1 gets sitting in traffic on a warm day?

When car was stock:
210 (middle line) while cruising on the highway and up to 235 (3/4 line) while stuck in traffic at which point my high speed fan would kick in and bring the temps back down.

Now with 160 T-stat and fans reprogrammed with PCMforless tune:
Around 170 while on the highway and never goes above 185 (1/4 line).

Drove mine today at 95 degrees outside. With Data Master running in traffic the hotest it got was 176 degrees. This is with cast iron heads, 11.5 compression, 3500 stall and a 160 t'stat. Heat index was 108 degrees.

"thats a lil hot...you should be checking your fan relays to make sure they are operating. jump the relays to make sure they kick on, and see how strong they are running"

Around 210 ish the hottest and thats with mods in sig. I notice that if i sit still the car runs cooler then when im driving it around 35mph steady or so...i dunno if thats the electric wp or soimething else but its driving me nuts cause before all the mods and tunning the car never got over 180...... thats in 100+ weather with like 75% humidity or so but it runs about the same in 85 or so...i havent driven it lately in colder weather ...

Re: What's the HOTTEST your LT1 gets sitting in traffic on a warm day?

Well, it was over 100 heat index here today (90 something actual), and on days like this, my car usually runs over 210 even when moving. So I did a little duct tape modification to some of the plastic near the air dam before I left for work, and it ran a good 20-30 degrees cooler than it would have otherwise.. Now my car had work done to the front end before I got it, and I'm wondering if maybe someone didn't put the plastic back together right - the way it sits on its own, it look like it would cause most of the air to rush under the air dam rather than get scooped up by it. Does anyone know where there are some good pics showing the bottom front how it's supposed to be?
