What's on the end of this hose?

The black hose that connects the throttle body to the passenger side valve cover. I looked on shoebox's website, but couldn't find it. My question is: on the end that plugs into the valve cover, is there just a plastic 90 degree elbow or is it a valve of some kind. My intake and TB had a good bit of oil in them and I want to know if this was the cause. Would it hurt to put a pcv valve in there so that the pressure is equal but oil isn't constantly going through? Thanks.

Also, can I use any rubber hose or does it have to be molded?

It sounds to me like you need to install a catch can in between your pcv line. The oil in your intake and throttle body is coming through that line and gumming up everything in your intake. Do yourself a favor and get an inexpensive catch can setup. It should help eliminate the issue

It's just a 90 degree elbow, but if you are getting oil into your TB check this out.

I've read some people don't like to put a breather filter right there and cap off the TB. What's the reason not to?

That hose provides air to feed the PCV system. It is metered air when it comes from the TB (passed through the MAF first). If you bypass this system and just add a breather, you're providing unmetered air into the engine, but it's a small amount.

Ok, I'm gonna get the filter but leave the hose on.

Does your valve cover still have the baffle under the 90* elbow? Is there any evidence you are getting excessive blowby on the rings because they have not seated yet?

Ok, I didn't say this in my initial post. The oil in the intake was from the old engine. I'm putting in a brand new engine and want to know what was on the original hose because I wasn't sure if what I had was what was supposed to be there.

So, the baffle is still there and the old hose is cracked, and I have to buy a new one. The baffle is smashed a little to clear the 1.6 RR.
