What's the effect

I just got my car running. What is the effect of removing EGR and Air pump on how the engine runs? I am getting a new program for my PCM but am wondering what is the effect, if anythng, without them and without the PCM programmed.

No effect on power-only emissions.

Thanks, any effect on how it runs. IE should it seem fully normal idle, etc? I was more asking does it cause any problems before the PCM is changed.

You won't notice any difference in how it runs, though you might get a check engine light from the delete. On your 1995, if you keep a good fuse and relay in the AIR pump circuit, you probably won't see an check engine light from that. You'll likely get one from the EGR at some point in time during part throttle cruising.

Thanks again. I got the car started after getting it all hooked up but it's running rough and is backfiring occasionally. I'll be checking the plug wires to make sure I have them on right.

I replaced the timing chain but I made sure the dots lined up and I didn't turn the engine, or cam. The chain fit very tight. I hope it's right.

Would my PCM need to learn my engine after being off the car and with the changes I've made? Headers, EGR and Air removal, new O2 sensors, Accel coil, new plugs and wires.

I think I've already said I have a new program coming from PCMforLess but I'm forgetful so I said it again.

You made a lot of changes. It will take a small time for the PCM to relearn, but not too long. Backfires may be plug wires on wrong. Brand new headers can foul O2 sensors, so you maybe should have waited to install those.

I didn't know that regarding O2 sensors and headers. It's not run 10 minutes. Should I take them out for a while? Would I need to cap the holes? Can they be cleaned?

So many questions.

Hard to say. Fumes from the burning off of coatings and manufacturing remnants can cause fouling. Headers heat up pretty quick, so I would say just leave them alone and see how they do. No need to get too paranoid about it.
Normally, you would want to use old O2s on new headers until they have a few heat/cool cycles and no longer smoke/smell.

How did you block the EGR holes on the back of the intake manifold?

I got a set of billet steel plates from some company. I used gaskets as well.
