Are your hydraulic lifters capable of handling 556#?

I agree with replacing the lifters when doing a cam, if they are higher mileage (130k+).
but I think you might be running to much spring, since the cam lift is only at about .522 with 1.6rr

.725 max lift with what kind of install height (when does the spring coil bind)? Stock LT1 install height is 1.80, but mine measured out around 1.75. At .725 lift, the spring would be compressed to 1.025

So, if 1.75 is your height, subtract the cam lift (.523) gives you 1.22 height at maximum compression of the spring. You'll be over 556lbs on full open with those springs.

I think you should seriously look at a different spring for your application.

The comp 26918s have an open load of 318@1.2 with a rate of 313 lbs/in. With .523 lift, the max compression on the spring is 1.22, which gives you an open valve spring pressure of 309.35 lbs/in with a 1.75 seat pressure of 145.65 lbs/in.

Just something to think about.

Thomas.

Too much spring will make it hard on your hydraulic lifters and can cause them to fail like Injuneer was suggesting.

Might want to post that question on "Suspension, Chassis......" forum. It gets dicussed there regularly.

also you might want to think about installing gears and/or a higher stall converter before installing that kind of cam.
