Whats causing the rich condition?

Whats causing the rich condition?
Well the more annoying part of it lately is a gassy smell from the exhaust. At times it almost seems boggy from dumping too much gas. I have no codes. New o2's. I need to get it scanned again anyway I guess. Maybe I'll replace the EGR just for the heck of it. Seems to be the original anyway. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Do you still have a cat in place, and working?
The most frequent causes of "rich" conditions are misfires, exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors, and faulty O2 sensors and/or wiring, extensions, etc.

Do these cars have rear O2's? I know that if you remove the cats or gut them then the rear O2's will freak out when they read the "seemingly" out of whack conditions and cause several problems. I would not think that the O2's would read a lean condition and add fuel.
BUT the gutted Cats are flowing freely and the gasses that should be burned in the cats are not being burned. If they are not being burned then they are being released and then you get the fuel smell.
I could very well be wrong but I thought I would add my .02 .

Only the OBD-II cars (96-97) have after-cat O2 sensors. And, when you get a code for an after-cat sensor, it won't cause "out of whack conditions" and problems. Just lights the SES light to tell you your cats aren't working.
Lacking a cat, the level of the unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust increase significantly.... it smells worse, even when its running right. I run no cats on my track setup, and even though the tune is dead-nuts on and verified with a wide-band, the fumes from the C-16 it idle will leave your eyes watering.
You need to check for exhaust leaks and/or misfires. A scan would tell you if you are having a "false lean" condition, that is causing the long term fuel corrections to pour in fuel the engine doesn't need.

I will have to get it scanned again for sure. I just can't find any exhasut leaks. I have a set of fel-pro's that I'm gonna put in though. Should I buy a hi-flow cat?
