whats this black thing?????

in the nose of my firebird where the horns are located - you would also see the front parking light looking in here - these is a black cylender looking thing, it seems to have a vaccume line running to it. what is that thing? thanks -dave

This is a vacuum reservoir for the AC controls.

LOL. What did you use to cover it up and take it out? Did you take your A/C out?

Its the vacuum reservoir for the complete vent system controls... A/C, heat and vent. Without the canister, at high engine loads, the heater doors might change positions due to lack of vacuum. I've deleted the one on my car, but its a "track only" car.

thats something to think about, i still daily drive the car but i am going to be taking the whole heating system out of it. im going to get a summit heater, only 7 pounds and i can free up alot of space in my engine bay. ill leave the canister in until i take the heat out now. thanks -dave
