What would cause this?

What would cause the opti to show these lines?

The black lines are the conductors embedded in the cap to route the correct plug tower terminal to the correct cap contact. It looks like your embedded wires are corroded or burned.

so would that mean replace just the cap and rotor...or would i need to replace the entire opti? cause goin back to an earlier thread ive already gotten the p1371 code.

I would replace the whole opti. You're already in there. I would also send that cap to MSD, telling them you were using their ignition box. I would be interested in their responce.

are the new cap and rotors being made with the embedded lines showing? cause advance auto just gave me a "remanufactured" one that looks exactly the same...
