What type of oil do I use for my A/C????

I was board at work so I decited to check my A/C. I hooked it up to the recovery machine, recovered about 1 lb of R-134, then vacumed the system and then charged it with 2 lbs. Although I didn't ask the machine to pull out the oil, I've been told that when you recover your system you pull out some of the oil from the compressor as well. I don't wanna burn up my A/C Compressor and I can't use the oil at my work because it's a dodge dealer and the oil that they have is for Mopar junk. I was warned that you should only use A/C oil that is recommended by GM. Where can I get this oil? If I haven't had any trouble with my A/C, should I even worry about it? What da ya tink???

You must use PAG (polyalkylene glycol) synthetic refrigerant oil with the R-134a system. The only way to know how much oil is in the system is to remove it all. Then you can put in the correct amount.

Now is there a particular PAG oil that I need to use or is any synthetic PAG oil OK? I was told that I probably didn't pull out too much oil when I recovered the R-134. I was also told that R-134 has oil in it as well so if I haven't heard any knocking comming from the compressor, I should be OK???

Can't answer if you will be ok or not. As far as the PAG goes, as long as that is what you use (as I understand it, they are all synthetic), that should be good.
