12 pack of your favorite beer. O2 socket WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE O2s because they will be so rusted tight. Get a 7/8 line wrench (flare nut wrench) to remove them if your going to try to reuse them. Lots of wrenches, closed and open. Lots of extensions of all lengths.

Be sure to drain oil, filter, disconnect battery and drop starter before starting.

Re: What Tools for Header install...

I'll go through what's here tomorrow and see what he has. I know I have most of that just scatters through a lot of those Tool kits you buy haha.

So do you think i just just buy some new 02? I'm also doing plugs and wires along with it. I still need a spark plug socket to right?

Also what about the AIR and ERG system. Is there a way that i can block it off till i can get some block off plates? Do you have any tips?!

I pretty much plan on taking pictures of everything just to make sure it goes back on the right way and make sure everything is in place.

And what about moving the motor around if needed? It is ok to just place something between the oil pan and the jack to list the motor up? How hard are the bolt going to be to undo?

I plan on getting some PB Blaster? I think is what someone said to spray on the bolts over night so they will be easier to get loss..

The most useful tool I had for my header install was a foot and a half pipe that sleeved my ratchet. Made the manifold bolts a lot easier to get off. PB Blaster or WD-40 is definetly good to have. Since you're deleting the AIR you'll need a Dremel to cut the metal AIR pipes.

Re: What Tools for Header install...

doesnt make sence to me on the oil....why spend 25 extra bux when you can take out the filter and add maybe half a quart of oil if your not due for an oil change....

Also something soft yet somewhat firm to take your frustration out on in times of being pissed at your car.....piece of wood will work

I dont guess you HAVE to drain it, but the filter does have to come off.

Re: What Tools for Header install...

nice timing. I just pulled the passenger manifold on my 97 Z, installing SLPs. Like 20 minutes ago. Anyway, 1/2 inch combination wrench got that egr tube, do it after pulling the manifold bolts for better clearance against the trans dipstick. Don't think I could have got it with the Y pipe on. A 14 stubby was real handy a couple times. For you, I recommend a nice buzz to numb you out of your misery. This job ranks right up there with changing an automatic trans. Good luck.

Re: What Tools for Header install...

I second that, its probably my useful and cheapest tool "addon", a pipe i got at the hardware store that sleeves over my normal wrench. Sure beats buying a breaker bar lol...

Re: What Tools for Header install...

you do not need to take the oil filter off you can work around it. just give yourself plenty of time and you are going to need a lot of patience, your starter will need to come off, and you will most likely have to jack the engine up, its a bitch to do but definatly worth it
