What Are These??

Im in the process of removing my egr valve and everything that goes along w/ it, i removed my air pump about a week a go, and my question is, what are those black boxes for on each side of the intake manifold, can i remove these, that would really clean things up as far as im concerned.

On the drivers side there is a vacum line that connects the intake to the egr . If you do remove this cap the ends off with vacum caps.

The one on the driver side towards the rear of the manifold is the egr solenoid, and the one towards the passenger side is the evap canister purge solenoid valve. They can be removed, but might set an SES.

what is the evap canister? do i need this? also how many plugs do i need to cap the intake manifold after the removal of egr and air pump and hoses? 2?, where are they on the manifold, same side? opposit sides? Thanks guys.

The vacuum connections are all diagrammed on the emissions label on the top radiator support. Alternatively, Shoebox has pictures of all the connections and components on his Tech Pages website:
