Check your plug wires, plugs, coil, and coil wire first.
Usually when the opti starts to go, it has a low rpm stumble.

deffinatly got the low rpm stumble... got a high rpm stumple too...

between 5400-redline it will almost decelerate, giving me wiplash type of motion when the car decides to shift, instead of just putting me into my seat like it will when its cold

That sucks man. Welcome to the club. My car has a low rpm stumble, makes the whole car shake, but as soon as 2000rpm rolls around, boom... the car takes off. It used to miss throughout the rpm band all the way up to redline, but it hasnt done that at all recently.

Sounds like you need an opti.

Just to be sure, check your fuel filter, your egr valve (they tend to carbon up) and you fuel pressure at the rail. Opti's are expensive!

The cap and rotor can go bad on the optis without the optical portion itself being bad.
I recently changed mine out because of a low RPM stumble and backfireing under load. The optical portion was fine but the cap and rotor were shot, the bearing in the opti was kinda loose as well so I put in a complete new unit.
Solved all the problems, well I did have to change the fuel pump as well but thats another story.

6 optis??? don't you think the problem is not the opti if it has broke 6 times? water pump? incorrect installation? Those two come to mind.
