I pitched in my 2 cents, but the 80's boys probably won't like it.

in a stop light race a well driven L98 is very hard to beat. but if the race goes for anything more than a typical stop light race like say 1/4 mi. theres no chance stock for stock the LT1 will win. and how is this tech anyway? trey

why does it have to be a competition? arent we all f bodies? I have a 91 T/A that ran a 14.1 BONE STOCK. And after racing several lt1's(unless i just lucked up and got slow ones) I can say that I can beat stock lt1's without a problem. I also have a 94 firehawk. The lt1 is a much better engine to mod, it takes to mods much better. Plus the tpi's dont rev worth a flip, and the heads, cam and intake all leave alot to be disired. I just really dont understand why it has to be a heated arguement, at least they arent hondas!!!

Without a problem??? Time to put the crack pipe down, and next time, make sure the guy with the LT1 knows you're racing...

But I do agree about the last part. I'd rather have a 3rd gen than an import anyday.

This is just like the dumb LT1 vs. LS1 debates.

Ofcourse the newer motor is better, makes more power and gets better milage. Its called technology, GM wouldnt step backwards.

Its also obvious that the older motors are going to have bigger, cheaper aftermarket.

Finally, yes someone in the older motor will beat someone in the newer motor from time to time, but that doesnt mean that the older motor is better! The team who wins the superbowl never has a perfect season!

Come on guys, why is this even being argued? Stock for stock, LS1 > LT1 > L98. Modded, its anyones game.
