Without knowing anything about your car, new shocks would be a good place to start.

Definately the shocks, I am experiencing the exact same syptoms with my 1994 Trans Am. It still has the original stockers after 90000 miles. There are many choices that fit in the "nice price" category.

Monroe shocks
Bilstein shocks
Tokico shocks

More expensive shocks are going to incluse
Hal (great drag shocks)
Koni (great autocross/road race shocks)

Basically your more top end shocks are going to be more aimed at a certain type of driving you do besides every day needs. This is acheived by allowing the shocks to be adjustable (hal and koni)

I am going with the Bilstein because the majority of my driving is everyday conditions. I had a set on my 1997 Camaro RS and another set on my 1997 30th Camaro SS. Both times I have been extremely satisfied. PM me as I know a place where you can get a front/back set for just over 300.00 dollars.

you might also consider springs at the same time, since you have to remove the stock springs to get to the stock shocks.

I have run Hals. I am running Bilstein's right now (I am lowered, too) and they are nice for everyday driving and twisties. Hals and others would be better choices for straight line action because of the adjustability.
