CANTONRACER, are you saying that if you upgrade to Kook's 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" to 3" collectors that you need this smaller starter? I am fixing to buy these headers and would like to know if in order change the stock starter out you need to take the header off, but with this smaller starter you can do it with the header on?

I was thinking about why I put a different starter on the engine...I don't want to give out false information.

I had forgot this...but my reasoning is because I went to a 163 tooth flywheel...which put the positioning of the starter farther out.

I found that the only starter that would fit is the one I bought.

If I had not went to a 163 tooth flywheel I bet the stock starter probably would have fit ok.

 

I have Kooks with Canton pan
13.5 to 1 CR
LT4 starter new from dealer. I had to wrap it, but it works just fine.

 

if i have my stock flywheel, how many teeth does it have?
