we just installed a TCI on my buddies 95 Z28 355 rebuild, I didn't have to shim it and it lines up perfect to the 153 t flywheel. I did have to modify his power wire to work on it but it's a beast for $160.

Re: What Starter?!?

I'm using the stock starter on my Golen 383 and it works just fine. The Golen 383 works fine too !

Re: What Starter?!?

I bought a CVR ProTorque starter from JEG's for less than $150. Been starting the 381 fine for about 5 years. It can be rotated in the mount to clear headers, etc.

Re: What Starter?!?

Sorry to hijack this thread - I am looking at starter too. Is there any nice starter for higher-compression engines, which will be reliable and will not require any mods to work with LT1, that can be bought from Jegs or Summit or other reputable retailer???
I heard only good things about CVR ProTorque, but they are not selling it anymore... I appreciate any leads! Thank you!

Re: What Starter?!?

I put the LT4 starter on mine and it works great. It clears my headers with ease, starts much easier and has a cool little "whine" to it when it cranks. Highly recommended.

Re: What Starter?!?

JEG's appears to be selling the CVR ProTorque under their own name brand, for less $$$$$.

I need to get a starter and the Lt4 starter is $240 from Cromer.
Yours seemed to work great, I have Jet-Hot LT's on the car as well.

Its a long time since I looked under the car, but I think its part # 555-10001. Looks exactly like what I have in a picture of my car.
