what size rods/pistons
Re: what size rods/pistons
It is a 3.480 stroke x4.030bore=355.11CID.You can use 5.7 or any rod as long as you have matching piston's.
Pressed means the piston pin is a press fit in the rod and doesn't move-- bushed is a floating pin that is not necessary if you aren't making BIG HP.Pressed pins will take you well over 500FWHP.Floating pins are good for less friction and minute HP gains. They are easier to install the piston and sometimes come out(usually a install issue) and tear up the cyl wall unless you run "button's".

stock rods and a .030 over bore is a 355 isnt it??
just get it bored to clean the cyclinders up..find a set of LT1 rods and get them reconditioned w/ new ARP bolts..you will have a pretty decent rod when done.

Re: what size rods/pistons
Aftermarket pistons and rods are usually designed for "floating" wrist pins. That's what you should use. However, if you are asking this question should you be building this yourself? I suggest getting a couple of books and an experienced friend to help you out. No offense and good luck!

Re: what size rods/pistons
500hp i would go w/ forged...stock reconditioned rods like mine are good for around 450 or alittle more...so i have been told. When they recondition the rods they make sure the both holes are sized correctly and they shot pien(sp) the rods to make sure there is no stress in them..keeps them from cracking and stuff like that..they also press in new rod bolts ARP are some of the best. I would shop around and look for the best price on rods if you are going to go forged...i've seen some 396kits all forged for like $1600.00
