what are the signs to get an engine rebuild?

what are the signs to get an engine rebuild?

my car has 120K on it, and it still running strong.....i just would like to know when is the best time to get an engine rebuild? when the engine stop running or other reasons?

When it starts knocking and gets louder when you rev it, blows excessive smoke out the tailpipe and burns 3qt of oil in 3000 miles, loss of compression, too much fuel, sludge or coolant in the oil etc.

The main reason why most people rebuild their engines on this site is because they want more power. So when you've done every bolt-on, heads, cam, supercharger and nitrous and it still doesn't seem fast enough, then its time for a rebuild.

that's the sound an engine makes when it's time for a rebuild.

it makes a knock sounds?? ....good my car hasnt make that sound yet....hope not in the long run....::knock on wood::
