what should I do next (bolt-on car)

My goal is 8.0 1/8th times with no weight reduction (3560 race weight). Current best is in sig and I now have new MTs waiting to go. With good weather I might break into the 8.2s but 8.3s seems more likely. Question is, what to do next? Ive been considering a cutout, EWP, 3.42/3.73s, and eventually 1.6RR. Are there any tranny mods that could give me a performance adv? I have a Hooker Catback now and the searching Ive done looks like the cutout wont help much over that. Id do them all but dont have the $$ for it right now. Any other suggestions welcome.
Mods-
ram air
tb bypass
lt4 KM OBDI conversion
tuning
3000 stall/cooler
pacesetters ORY
Hooker CB
stock 3.23s

I believe I'd opt for 3.73s over the 3.42s. Would go with the OEM gears and ratech solid spacers. The 1.6 RRs along with appropriate springs will be a nice addition.

Without going with a cam and heads, you need to concentrate on doing those things that contribute to the same type of thing, i.e, more air more exhaust and gears to get it out of the hole reducing your et. JMHO

Seeing that you already have a converter upgrade done, there isn't much else you do can to your tranny to give it a "performance advantage." Gears would be a good addition as would the rocker arms. You may also consider doing some bolt-on suspension mods as well such as LCAs, LCA relocation brackets, ect. As for the cutout, it should still add a few extra ponies over your catback so for 30 bucks, you can't lose.

No N20. I could see it now, "daddy, why is there a big bottle in your car?" hehe. Do you think 3.73s and a cutout could get me close to my goal or will I definitly need 1.6 RR to get it done?

Hard to say, but you will probably need the rockers and some weight reduction to chop your desired times

I would go with the 3.73's first then followed by the 1.6rr's. The gear swap will probably be the most noticeable performance mod you have in your list.

Thanks guys, I got some direction now. About gears, is there a factory 3.73 out of a trailblazer or anything that would fit our cars?

Many like the Motive gears. I too would like to see you throw a cut-out on the exhaust. What make converter are you using?

Its an xtreme trans that I got from this board for 300 shipped, brand new. It dropped my 1/8 times by 3 tenths on street tires.

get as et of qa1's....concentrate on getting the 60' down...the rest will follow

the 3.73 would help, your not asking for alot with a 8.0 goal....probly 88-90 m.p.h right? I don't know for sure.

getting the car out of the hole is the key....

what he said. get it to stick and get out of the hole.
