What removes carbon buildup?

Just wondering what works good for removing carbon buildup on the combustion chambers and also the pistons. I have my heads off the car and would like to clean then up.

don't know if the motor is out but take it to a machine shop and have the motor honed and hot tanked. I would have the pistons hot tanked also seperatly

Good Luck

Ok I think I get it. You have the heads off, and motor waiting for the heads to be put back on, and wanting to clean in the meantime?

Berryman B-12 chemtool in the arosol can, works like a champ!

That is correct. I know the flat surfaces I can stone, but it's the irregular surfaces i need to get.

WD-40 and rag, fine steel wool, or scotch bright pad. Steel wool leaves small filings behind so I wouldn't recommend it.

I used wd40 and scotch bright, worked pretty well, no scratching.
