What is this plug?

right on my SMOG pump there is what looks like a connection for a plug to go into but nothing is connected and then there is a line with a plug that looks like it will fit right in, however i think the line has a cap on it similar to the caps that come on skip shift eliminators that you put on the trans. very strang and idk what it is. heres pictures, one of the plug on the Smog pump and one of the wire with the capped plug.

Re: What is this plug?

Looks like it might be the air bleed solenoid for the AIR pump.

See the top right of this...

Hmm....Doesn't that kinda look like the plug that goes into the winder washer fluid container? Might be mistaken but I'm not for sure.

Re: What is this plug?

I have the same wire plugged off on my 96 SS. My car doesn't have that bleed valve though and I think that's what it's supposed to connect to. I think there was some recall for that and maybe mine was removed under the recall. I don't think that will cause any problems or the SES light. It just bleeds off any potential exhaust that might get past the AIR check valve. Did you test your AIR check valves to make sure they aren't leaking. They are notorious for going bad. Pull the rubber hose off and try blowing through and sucking back through(not while it's running or hot). You should only be able to get air through it 1 way. If air goes both ways the valve is bad. I just replaced both valves on my SS when I did the headers.
