I appeciate your advice, but it's $258.44 for 8 $516.89 for 16, sorry. I'll go with some comp cams lifters for $171 off eBay.

So far I have:

HotCam kit-$570 summit
Comp cam lifters $171 ebay
Comp cams pushrods $92 ebay
Cloyds timing chain $90 NAPA
Gaskets and seals $45 ebay.

or...

CC503- $231 ebay
Comp cam lifters $171 ebay
Comp cams pushrods $92 ebay
Cloyds timing chain $90 NAPA
Gaskets and seals $45 ebay.

What springs, bolts, ect will I need?

Same here, don't have many miles on it but I spent enough as it was on parts for the H/C swap. Didn't feel like converting to a vented opti, not that I wouldn't if I need a new shortblock.

I would go ahead and spend the money on the full valvetrain. That way if you decide to change cams in the future you don't have to redo everything. Also if you build it right the first time it will last a long time.

Springs, Roller Rockers, Pushrods, Lifters. Sure it might cost you a little bit more right now, but when something breaks its gonna cost you even more.

OK. It looks like the hotcam kit setup would be around $900 with CC lifters and pushrods.

With the CC503 I will need lifters, pushrods, rockers, springs, and studs.

You don't need all of that stuff. You can easily get by with $30 pushrods, stock studs, and stock lifters. So many other people have done it on more radical setups. Sure it might be better to have better pushrods and new lifters but you probably have a 95%+ chance of having no problems with your old lifters and some cheaper pushrods. I'd just spend my money on more important parts. To me
Roller rockers > New OEM lifters (If your stockers look fine)

You do realize you need an electric waterpump to run the Cloyes chain right?

Here is what my buddy is running on his 224/230.
CC XE224/230 110LSA
Cloyes true double roller timing set
CC 1.6 pro mag Roller rockers
CC 987 valve spring kit
Stock OEM lifters
$30 Comp pushrods

Is he running new OEM lifters? Where do he get $30 comp pushrods? Can I reuse the old hardware for the new roller rockers?

He is running stock lifters, he bought a "low mileage" set of stockers for like $40. He is also running some used Roller Rockers. With Roller Lifters and Roller Rockers they will run a very long time if they're well maintained and setup. I'm running a set of used Comp Pro mags. They saved me about about $100. You can buy the Comp Hi-Engergy pushrods from Thunder for $35 a set and thats what he is running.

If you do decide to go with new lifters you should buy the GM Racing lifter. Its the same price as the OEM's and supposed to be an awesome lifter. To learn more you'll need to do a search on them.

The only difference between hotcam and 503 is one is a kit, and one you get your parts by buying them seperately.

How many miles are on your lifters?

Depending on rocker arm used(self aligning VS non self aligning), depends on whether your gonna need a hardened pushrods with guideplates.

My opinion is replace what is hardest to get to while your there.

A. You want to change the timing chain at least. I changed only the chain with my 503. Some will argue with that.

B. I think that the stock lifters will be fine with both of these milder cams. I have been using mine with my 503 for a while now. As you have read some prefer the stock ones anyway.

C. Stock stamped rocker arms are fine, I used mine for months without any problems. (you will not get the most of your cam lift capability with these however.)

With all this said and done, you can upgrade the pushrods, and rockers after the cam has been in , and you can save more money.

If your wanting to know details about what springs .... call comp cams.

Ok, how about this setup:

cc503- $231
CC lifters- 171
CC springs- 125??
new timing chain- 80

I really don't want to take a chance with my 107K mi lifters, sorry guys. How much power and/or sound quality will I be losing keeping the stock rockers?

I'm sure you'll see gains of at least 10hp and beyond. It would definitely be a good upgrade to get the maximum out of your setup.
