What needs to be done to put a 3.875 crank in?

Does the block have to be cut to fit a 3.875 stroker crank?
My plans are building a 396ci

You'll have to clearence the block, and most likely get a new oil pan. My rods had to be slightly clearanced also.

I allready have a set of 6" Scat rods that should work fine, what are some of the choices of cranks that makes a 3.875 stroke and 1 piece rear main seal?
Lunati
Scat
Callies
Eagle
Cola, etc..

I planning on spending around 700 or so on a good forged crank, just which one?

Also is anyone running a 4.00 stroke crank in a LT1 or 4 block?

Similar question. How much clearancing would have to be done to a 2 bolt 400 block to put in the 3.875 crank?

Not much. The stock stroke is 3.75" in a 400.

Yeah I was originally going to do a 4.0" in teh 400 to make an small block 427, but everyone told me I shouldnd do it with an OEM block. So I thought I would comprimise, and go in between teh stock stroke and the 4"

Well, a 0.030" overbore and a 3.875" crankshaft would take you to 420 CID without much effort, probably.
