Unhappy A horrible, horrible thing has happened, and im afraid its as bad as it sounds

Ok lemme try to catch my breath here, about 3 days ago my car started hesisating, and the idle was surging when hot, well it didnt really go away, or get worse until today. I went to pick up a friend from school, and on the way back my car is hesitating really bad and the temp is steady rising, well i pull into my driveway just as it reaces the red. I shut the engine off, and look at the car, i look under it and notice a little bit of coolant dripping, well i think maybe the coolant has been dripping on the optispark and making my car mess up, well i crank the car up, let it run, and notice the temp rises a bit, then i hit the fans, and it was going back down, so i turn off the car, check some fluids again, and i go to crank it, and THE WORST SOUND IVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE. It was an awful grinding sound that could have made the strongest man cry........im not too educated about what this could be, but im thinkin nothing good can come of this, it has to be very serious.....spun bearing, blown head gasket wtf happened???

im going with over heated car = blown head gaset===> spun bearings or hydrolocked motor (if it kept running, i'm going with A)

Find the source of the coolant leak and we can go from there.

Could it possibly be the starter not fully engaging?? Was the motor fully turning over or did it not turn over at all??

If the waterpump went south and locked up you could be grinding the teeth off the drive gears for the pump....you need to see if the coolant is coming from the weep hole and replace the pump now if its bad.

Are you sure the car was off when you tried to start it again?

That does make a very bad sound. But did you have any coolant left, or was it all gone?

Pop the hood, get someone to have their head by ( NOT AGAISNT ) the engine, crank it real quick, and have them determine where its from ... Im guessing that the head gasket went ... In which case id change the oil and see if its milky, if its ok , then id look elsewhere for the problem, and if the oil is milky colored, for the love of god DONT ruin a perfect shortblock ... Dont run it again untill you fix the leak , AND FLUSH it with some cheap .99$ oil

well, if your flywheel has broken a tooth (or two), it'll make a really nasty sound.

oh, and also, if your car is overheating, NEVER just turn it off....

just cause you turn it off, it's still heating up, because now the fans are off...

leave it in the "on" position so the fans run.
