What Motor Oil? Need advise.

I have a 97 Lt1 with 116,000 miles currently I am still using Mobil 1 10w30 Synthetic. Should I change to something else. I really would appreciate your help. Thanks

If your oil pressure is ok there is no reason to change. But it also will not hurt if you go up one on the high end, i.e., to a 40W, particularly with your being in a hot climate.

I have a question along the same topic...I've heard that it's bad to switch from a non synthetic to a synthetic after using a non synthetic for the whole life of the car because it changes the wear patterns inside the engine...is this true?

Castrol GTX has been amazing for me. Never had any problems with the oil, always runs very smooth. It's said to be the best...

Redline 10w-30 is only $3/quart more than Mobil 1 syn

though some say Mobile 1 can stay in longer, up to 6,000-8,000 miles. i change the Redline every 5,000

i think i read in another post that synthetic vs regular didn't really matter as long as you changed regularly and did not go beyond any time / milage usage recomendations. that being said i use full synthetic valvoline 10-40 and change it like je$u$ himself would walk into my garage and check me on it.

Hey Everyone. Thanks for all your reply's. I will continue to use Mobil 1 10w 30 it has been treating my engine real good. I just felt as if their maybe a chance that it may be too thin of an oil. as long as I see those 140K cars and 180K cars out their I don't see why I would change. Again thanks for all your reply's.....
