I have a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula A4 car. It has a SLP CAI, Hooker exhaust, carsound high flow cat, and the throttle body coolant bypass. My friend just got a 2003 Mach 1 mustang 5 speed. I would like to know what mods I need to make to my car, to beat him in a drag race. Thanks

 

Get a 160* stat since you did the bypass, get some tuning, and some 3.73s. If he's stock then he should be about .5 seconds faster then a stock camaro IMO. If your car has a lot of miles a tune up with new plugs and wires wouldn't be a bad idea.

 

If you're running the stock converter and gears, then change them to a nice 2800 and some 3.42s or 3.73s. Those two mods will really wake your car up and should put a hurting on the Mach. Don't forget a good set of tires in the back.

 

Attended an all-'stang event today at Norwalk and the Mach's were running right around the 13.2 range at 104-108.1 (with longtubes and couple other small bolt-ons).

I was running faster than all of the Mach's in attendance with my mods - but I have a cam albeit a small one.

I'll tell ya - I LOVE those Mach 1's absolutely beautiful cars

i ran a 14.31@98 my completly stock lt1
owell he had drag radials and something else it was a while back..he was a nice guy for a mustang owner they are nice cars i give the guys over t ford a nice big thumbs up..and a middle finger for producing a mustang that can hand me my ***.

 

Get some drag radials and learn to launch. Then say, "Catch me if you can".

Or just get a blower, heads, and a cam. He may leave me off the line, but by god I'll pass him once I hook up. Usually around the 3-4 shift.

Not everyone knows how to drive thier car and since his is new you'll prbably get him... since he hasn't learned the car yet.

When I first got my Z and was stock mostly... I beat plenty of cars that should had been faster than me. Hell .... I beat cars with a dying fuel pump and my engine missing... It just comes down to skill and knowing your vehicle... but you have an auto... so I say Shift Kit & gears.

For the most part when it coems to mustangs...only the guys that know them well can get the 13sec times out of them... most other guys pull 14's... then too the same can be said for F-bodies.

 

I had no problem beating Mach 1's at the drag strip after i put my 4:10's in...all the Mach 1's that were their were only turning like 13.8-14's.

 

just hit the gas man. you shouldn't have a problem

 

Those Mach 1's are fast, But if the guy doesn't know how to drive that car he'll be doing high 13's, but if he can drive you got to go faster than very low 13's
