Ok, as of now, I have CAI, shorty headers, and BBK 52mm TB. Pretty soon, I will have a dr. gas x pipe with dynomax bullets. I also have to replace my intake elbow, so I'm gonna go with the Trick Flow elbow. But Christmas will be here pretty soon, so what should I ask for? Suspension or other mods? I can't decide on what I want to get next. Either LCA's, subframe connectors, 3.73's & tires, MSD ignition, HPP w/ therm, or a mixture of some of these. What do you all think would be the best improvement? I would ask for a cam kit, but I'm gonna wait to do the engine work next year when I do a rebuild. I've heard suspension would be the best improvement right now, but I dunno. It would also help me off the line too. Sorry you guys have to put up with topics like these, but I don't know where else to turn to, and you all are extremely helpful. Thanks.

 

If I were you, I'd get some subframe connectors and some 3.73's. My friend gained .5 on his 1/4 with a basically stock 94 A4 Z. You're still in the bolt-ons, so you will probably see a NICE gain. I'd suggest SFC's and some 3.73's, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

 

Sweet. I'll probably end up going with the SFC's, LCA's, and 3.73's. I was told the 3.73's would make traction a big issue, but suspension such as the SFC's and LCA's would help that out. Anyone else have any more input. Thanks BTW.

 

I agree with the gears and sfc. As far as traction, you could also get some lca, but they didn't help my traction that much (it was fairly good already though). But those two would offer the nicer gain. I wouldn't waste my $$$ on the HPP, other than gear changes/tire height changes, they suck. I also haven't heard of any worthwhile gain for the MSD on a fairly stock fbod

 

Yeah, I don't really want the HPP, but I thought I would need it if I went ahead and got the gears. I want a strut tower brace too...mainly for looks, lol. I found a STB already powdercoated hugger orange, so that's why I wanted it. Also, about the HPP, I thought once you used it on a car, you couldn't use it on any other car...is that true? I see people buying used ones, but I thought they couldn't be re-used by another car.

 

Subframes.............Expecially if you are like me and like fast corners....BIG DIFFERENCE.

 

LOVE fast corners. I have a 87 Accord for a daily driver, and I take faster corners on that than the Z. Haha. SFC's will help prevent wheel hop too, shouldn't it?

 

Yeah, I've heard you can't reuse them. A guy said it downloaded the program from your car, modified it, then put it back in the car leaving the programmer empty. However, I guess it could be reusable, due to the fact that people buy used ones and don't seem to complain about it. They do come in handy for gears, but unless you plan on switching gears, it would be easier and cheaper to have someone just reprogram it for you.

 

You can buy a used HPP. Just make sure the guy you buy it from uploaded his stock stuff back on the car. You can't install the HPP info on the comp. and then try it on another car without removing the HPP program first.

Tires + gears = nice gains. SFC's probably aren't going to give you near the gain that tires in addition to tires will give you. Also I would say screw the HPP and get PCMforLess as I have had both.

tires + gears MAY lead to f'ed up rear end if you're not careful...a TA girdle and some strong bolts wouldn't hurt after you do gears...

 

What about a stall converter? Those alone can drop your ET's by about a half second.
