Question What is ment by bolt on?

Like what makes a bolt on a bolt on? Could you name some bolt on examples?

Any modification that doesnt tear into or replaces the top or bottom end of the motor ie; pistons, crank, rods, etc.

A few examples are headers, roller rockers, gears, cai, etc.

Hope this helps

cold air intakes
mufflers
catbacks
headers
torque converters
suspension components
drag radials/slicks
igntion components (MSD blaster boxes, coils...)

roller rockers I guess, alot of people call them bolts ons, my bolt on car got into the 12's w/o 'em, so I'm happy.

At one time it was any thing that did not touch oil, but now a lot of "bolt-on" cars are running roller rockers. Not a bolt on imho.

Would not consider roller rockers (have to remove valve covers),gears,Or a torque converter a bolt on.{any thing that bolts on the the outside of motor or drivetrain is considered bolt on} Just my opp.

if a torque converter isn't a bolt on.. then neither is upgrading to an aftermarket clutch in an M6 for more holding power.... therefore making any M6 w/ an aftermarket clutch not a bolt on car anymore.. can't go w/ that reasoning

the whole point is so that the car can launch harder off the line..

what does that have too do about a bolt on................................................ .................I I can put a narrowed rear end with larger tires on...does that make it a bolt on?

sure but that wouldn't make much sense on a car that couldn't make use of that rear b/c the motor only had bolt ons.. are you getting what I'm saying? oh well no biggie i don't care
