What makes a car a freak?

Is it just in the heads? I want to put a cam in my car but with 111,000 miles i dont want to spin a bearing, but I also dont want to swap out shortblocks w/ addition of a HOTCAM and headers end up only running 12.9's as opposed to the 12.7's now. Do I have anything to worry about?

So just replace the bearings on the engine in the car now and put in the cam at the same time? I need as little downtime as possible thats why I was just thinking about getting a younger shortblock and swapping it.

I did 3 cam swaps on my buddie's 150,000 mile engine that was majorly abused when he baught it, the whole lifter valley was caked with black sute type oil residue, all the pushrods were brow with caked oil, I couldn't see half the bolts cuz of all the sludge, needless to say, we ran her with sythetic oil for 12,000 miles now & lifter valley lookes a lot cleaner since she cleaned herself with nice sythetic oil & had 3 different cams in her, no spun bearings or anything, the bearings also looked really rough but whatever she runs real strong now too

Yah I only run synthetic in my car, my fear is that I will install a cam(PITA) and throw a bearing and end up having to replace it anyways but have much longer downtime. Maybe Ill just stick to putting headers and rr's on it and running some easy mid 12's But then the cam would just make me that much faster
