Exclamation what lifter preload works best with comp 850's?

I just redid my motor, and I set the valve lash at 1/4 turn past zero lash. I have a custom cam, chrome molly pushrods, comp pro mags, beehive springs, and comp 850 lifters. Its a daily driver, prolly see no more than 6500 rpms? I just want to make sure 1/4 turn isn't too loose to destroy the lifter cup retainers like the comp "r's" seem to do.
Thanks
Cody

1/4 is fine. Make sure the poly locks are TIGHT.

I tighten mine to 1/8 past and lock them down. Then with the locks as tight as you can get them with a hex wrench... take the nut another 1/16 turn or so to be absolutely certain.

The instructions that came with my original Hot Cam kit years ago said to torque the polylocks to 20 ft lbs. So that's what I've been using ever since, never had one come loose yet.
